New Buzz at Al Mouj Golf
Al Mouj Golf has just taken delivery of two colonies of Omani bees at the maintenance facility. This is an exciting opportunity to incorporate local bees within the golf course habitat and surrounding landscape.
Bee populations worldwide continue to diminish so this is an opportunity to enhance our environment and bolster our sustainability programs. The bees will become a key element in our educational and community engagements when we are able to host them again.
Already we have started educating the greenkeepers and other key members of staff and we hope to be able to invite school and committee groups to see the active hives in the near future.
The bees have come from over 1,000km south of Muscat and Al Mouj Golf has been supported by the Oman Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Bee division with the setup and basic training of the hives and colonies. We decided to go with two hives as this helps expedite the learning process as all beehives function differently.
